Engineer shortage costs Germany ca. 7 billion Euro per year


The Association German Engineers estimates that Germany has about 100 000 engineers to less. For this shortage the German economy has to pay about 7 billion Euro every year. The lack of engineers affects the personnel policy of the companies monumental: The companies invest large sums of money to extend the employee’s vocational education, they hire specialists at a greater age and open nursery schools so that also young parents can get employed. The Association German Engineers suggests another solution for the problem: Studying natural science has to become more interesting and exciting.

A leading IT specialist earns about 92000 Euro per year


Studies of the consulting company Kienbaum show that the specialist’s salary does not only depend on their vocational qualifications but also on the place of employment. The average annual income of a leading IT specialist amounts to 92000 Euro. Thereby IT specialists in Dusseldorf earn 25% more than those in other big cities in Germany. In Eastern Germany IT specialists are underpaid: they earn 15% less than their colleagues in Western Germany.

130 000 new employments in the metal industry


In the German metal and electric industry the amount of new employments is rising. Last year 130 000 new employments were created. The current total number of employed specialists comes to 3.58 million. Creating employments pays: companies get new and attractive requests especially from foreign countries. What benefits German companies regarding their businesses in foreign countries is the quality most people automatically associate with German products.
